Synopsis: A PS1 styled survival FPS game made for a jam, later expanded with improved visuals and gameplay tweaks.
Description: UnRooted was a significant step forward compared to my previous game projects. The team approached this game with clearer planning, and the final result reflected that preparation both visually and technically. My main responsibility was creating the models and textures, aiming for a classic PS1 aesthetic, including animations made by animating the separate componentes instead of using a rig. The enemy designs followed this retro style, built from simple separate parts animated through rotations and axis movements. Textures were a mix of hand-drawn work and real-world references, such as the bark texture adapted from photographs.
After the jam version was completed, the team continued refining the game. We focused on polishing visuals, adding quality-of-life improvements, and enhancing the overall experience. During this stage, I continued my original modeling and texturing work while also contributing some coding — most notably programming the helicopters that periodically pass overhead.
